Day 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake

  • Early Morning: Pick-up from your hotel and drive to Mollepata (2,900m / 9,514ft).
  • Hike Begins: Start trekking to Soraypampa (3,900m / 12,795ft).
  • Afternoon: Visit the stunning Humantay Lake, a turquoise glacial lake at 4,200m (13,780ft).
  • Overnight: Campsite in Soraypampa.

Distance: 12 km (7.5 miles) | Difficulty: Moderate


Day 2: Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Chaullay

  • Morning: Hike to the highest point of the trek, Salkantay Pass (4,630m / 15,190ft), with incredible views of Salkantay Glacier.
  • Afternoon: Descend into the Cloud Forest and arrive at Chaullay (2,900m / 9,514ft).
  • Overnight: Campsite in Chaullay.

Distance: 22 km (13.7 miles) | Difficulty: Challenging


Day 3: Chaullay – La Playa – Santa Teresa

  • Morning: Trek through the tropical jungle, passing coffee plantations and waterfalls.
  • Afternoon: Arrive at Santa Teresa (1,550m / 5,085ft). Optional visit to Cocalmayo Hot Springs.
  • Overnight: Campsite or eco-lodge in Santa Teresa.

Day 4: Santa Teresa – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes

  • Morning: Trek or take an optional zipline experience in Santa Teresa.
  • Afternoon: Hike along the railway from Hidroelectrica to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town).
  • Overnight: Hotel in Aguas Calientes.

Distance: 16 km (9.9 miles) | Difficulty: Easy


Day 5: Machu Picchu – Cusco

  • Early Morning: Bus to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the citadel.
  • Guided Visit: Explore the most important sites, including Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana, and Main Plaza.
  • Optional: Hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (if permits are secured).
  • Afternoon: Return to Aguas Calientes, train to Ollantaytambo, and transfer to Cusco.
